Dorian Gray is the archetype of youth, beauty, and hedonism. He denies his reality and that of everyone else when searching the impossible: the eternal. That search condemns and turns him into a visceral and reprobate character. A portrait will assume the consequences of his excesses and bad decisions, but finally, his owner will end up paying for the lived pleasures.
